Music is a huge part of my personal life, and has gotten me through some really dark and hard times; especially when I have been dealing with my illness or been through certain atrocious acts done against me.
I have always loved English and storytelling, especially through poetry; so alternative hip hop is a favourite genre of mine; I'll write down some of my favourite songs; and if any one of you guys want to add yours; feel free \:\) These are my 21 favourites; but I have many more (1 000 more).

1. "The Sea Is Rising" - Bliss N Eso
2. "I Can" - Bliss N Eso
3. "Uncle Sam Goddamn" - Brother Ali
4. "Mourning In America" - Brother Ali
5. "Fix You" - Coldplay
6. "Like Toy Soldiers" - Eminem
7. "Difficult" - Eminem
8. "My Darling" Eminem
9. "Love You More" - Eminem
10. "How To Save A Life" - The Fray
11. "Live And Let Go" - Hilltop Hoods (this song is almost sacred to me. It has played a huge part in my life in the last 6-9 months)
12. "Through The Dark" - Hilltop Hoods (a personally very important song when one of my closest friends were dying of leukemia - like MC Pressure's son)
13. "I'm A Ghost" - Hilltop Hoods
14. "Can't Look Away" - Horrorshow
15. "Dead Star Shine" - Horrorshow
16. "Human Error" - Horrorshow

Fair enough, it's another slow-news day.

Musically, I'm all over the map. Not so much "*shrug* I like all kinds of stuff" but a good song is a good song regardless of genera, and a whole ton of "why" I think they're good is that I happened to discover them at a certain time and place in my life. A lot of it does have to do with nostalgia. When it comes to the more trance/techno type stuff, a reminder of HOW rolling-my-face-off I was when I first heard it.

01) Robert Miles - "children" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QEPrDBMqJ0

02) System F - "out of the blue" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgx_V0So0qk

03) Nerva - "Modo VII" (Santo Nerva de Mercia Mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPUEf8-sYyw <-SUPER GOOD, especially for the year it was produced. The instrumental ain't too bad either.

... it's really cumbersome to sort through my vinal, so I'll move on to other stuff.

04) I wrestled a bear a once - "You Know That Ain't Them Dogs' Real Voices" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA__eBQAVVg

05) Polkadot cadaver - "Pure Bedlam for Half Breeds" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20I88hCbwvw

06) GWAR - "Immortal corrupter" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6HIifwp4MM *basically anything by GWAR

07) Mudvayne - "Dig" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsKUiC9bDLE

08) Coheed and Cambria - "Grave Makers and Gunslingers" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6SgEzZ1RD0 *most things by them.

09) Deicide - "Christ Denied" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYBqEll52J8

10) Band Perry - "If I die young" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NJqUN9TClM (fuck you, it's a good tune)

12) Sleep Theif - "Eurydice" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PrDapteYVk (<- epic sheeze, it's like I can't have emotions or something - the satanic is just sooo hard-core :p)

13) Hell Rell - "By your side" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC0KADyUTks

14) Coheed and Cambria - "Faint of Hearts" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJAV8-m8TtY (the white boy's version of #13... I'm telling you we develop very strange attachments to our weapons ;\) )

15) Rise Against - "Survive" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsKk5_xftNI

16) Slipknot - "New Abortion" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PR7O23tJ7k (I like most of the knot's work... most of it... but this one has an especial appeal to a coder)

17) Iron Maiden - "Wasted Years" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnqkDbrIfps

18) Birthday Massacre - "Horrorshow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoF8sg0uTG8

19) the random riffs that I write which always seem to stay stuck in my head, yet unfinished.

20) D12 - "How come" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgZN9XcvFZs

21) You only live once - "Do or die" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waB3DuoOyAM (I like catchy and poppy things to balance out the otherwise - dark stuff... takes all kinds, ya' know)

I'll just leave this kick-ass song here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc-_t-SS-WQ

And I'll just leave that bad-ass song there:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWjlXNrH0yI

and I'll just sprinkle another song's link down there:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbrqWarXPw0

As you can probably see, I'm a fan of WASP.

I know this isn't a place to post links to YouTube songs; but it's not mine and is personally one of my favourite music videos. The song is called "House Of Dreams".
Plus Eso (the first guy performing) is super hot.
But I love EVERYTHING pretty much from BNE (Bliss N Eso) the second verse about leaders and religion in "Addicted" is another favourite of mine.

In fact BNE would be my favourite musical artists. Even more than Eminem. o.0

yeah! They got good lately... well, they were always good, but we're talking upped-their game to the next-level with their last three albums - both sound-wise and multimedia content-wise.

Plus, I have to confess, I've always been a sucker for Chibi's voice - she could sing the telephone book to me and I'd still get the shivers.

*I'm a huge fan of this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1f7L-_iNZU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1f7L-_iNZU very good range

Strangely enough, my "goth phase" lasted a whopping 3 months and then I was like "err___ why the hell am I dressing like this?" ('still have some pretty nifty costumes, though)

I stumbled onto The Birthday Massacre just flipping through YouTube maybe 7 years ago - there's just so much good stuff out there that I make it like one of those wikipedia "adventures" at least once a week "oh what's this?" - give it a listen, check what's in the side bar, check that out, lather rinse repeat.

Truth be told, I'm into anything that produces "the shivers" and that comes about in all types of ways. Music should evoke emotion, but there's no certain formula as to what emotion it need be. Could be balls-to-the-wall aggression, melancholy, up-lifting and even hopeful. Certain harmonies will do it by default, too.

Failing "the shivers" then its got to have a gimmick.

To quote the late Dave Brockie of GWAR in an interview "Why the masks?" "because we weren't talented enough to make it without the silly costumes"

Haha, really digging the album right now. Thanks for the link. She does have an amazing singing voice, but as far as shivers for me goes.. it's got to be Diamanda Galas, or Eliane P. of Die Form. Tina Root of Switchblade Symphony does it for me too. Check out this song/video link. I'd 'do her' so hard, despite my 'faggotry'. lol \:\) https://youtu.be/NNQ58zV-WkI Damn, I really miss the 90's. \:\(

As far as goth-fashion goes.. I still got it, I still flaunt it. lol \:\)

Yeah, man ( or ma'am, or whatever you go by - "siya"!) it was weird - they dropped off the map for a lil while, then came out with "Pins and needles" and before I knew it they cranked out 4 fucking new albums! All of which are pretty decent. I wasn't a huge fan of Pins and Needles, it had maybe 1 or 2 good tracks, but the 3 albums after that are just plain great.

I've heard of Switchblade Symphony, but never gave 'm a listen til just now. Really good stuff. It's sorta like Sneaker-Pimps, but darker. I'm digging it. Thanks in return.

As for the "faggotry" - no offence intended - I'm just of the thinking that along-the-lines of "the satanic" is that one own one's pejoratives unflinchingly. I really don't care what people do with their genitals as long as they're not randomly trying to stick their dicks up my butt___ or fucking my dog while I'm not paying attention. Louis CK - Gays - Who gives a sh!t? <-sums-up my take on it, right there.

"Faggot" "nigger" "spic" "cunt" "bitch" "slut" "asshole" "loser" "weirdO" "nerd" "freak" "bigot" "republican"... etc___ own it.

Let your freak-flag fly.

Similarly Gwar - "have you seen me?" <-fun tune. \:\)

Louis CK, funny guy. I love his stuff, and GWAR are just fun as all Hell. I loved it when I discovered that they had re-done West End Girls by The Pet Shop Boys. They totally punked-it-out.

Oh, yes.. Switchblade Symphony are/were nice, as are Tina Root's two other solo/side projects, Tre Lux https://youtu.be/WlPW71oNx7Y , and Small Halo https://youtu.be/9FldTtEErRs . I just dig this chick so much, for so many years now. \:\)

Ugh, how could I not have mentioned this guy.. the one, and only Gary Numan!? I met him when I was 18, after a show he did at The Odeon in the Cleveland Flats of Ohio. Nicest guy ever, and sexy-to-boot. Best known for his hit 'Cars', but Down In The Park is my personal fave.. Eh, I bump all of his stuff.

Well god-damn! I had no idea who wrote that tune. I grew up listening to it as a kid, and have at least 4 different remixes of it on vinyl - 'never new who the fuck wrote it originally, though. "*shrugs* I dunno, some new-wave shit I heard on the radio growing up in the 80s" the remixes I have are pretty tight, though, but I was always like "yeah! you heard this song before too! No! I have no idea who originally wrote it" "Me neither!" "I know right? but you've heard it before" "yeah!" "what?" "I said yeah!" "oh!" "well, yeah I dunno who wrote it - I'm just spinning the remix" "woooo" "ok!"

Ya learn something new everyday. If only I could go back in time and say "Gary Numan" "Harry truman?" "NO GARY NUMAN" (which is how I suspect that conversation would go) it probably would've educated some people. DJ'ing (spinning) is not all its cracked up to be, BTW - a lot of weirdOs... and worse, weirdOs on drugs... and a ton of mis-heard conversations - in the middle of a set. "can't you see I'm trying to queue up this next track? I know E, is great - 'huge fan of it myself, but I got job to do aside from saying 'I dunno' to your music trivia questions"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMMU9NrDAno

^^^ had to find that fucker - I haven't spun it in years.
