Is the act of meeting with a Russian lawyer enough to turn Trump into Nixon reincarnate?

This is a different animal. Don jr. is falling on his sword. He released emails that made it clear his intent was to collaborate with the Russian government to gain an edge on the campaign trail. That it didnt pan out gives Trump sr. a chance to save himself; however, he isnt even defending his son, except to praise him for his "transparency." Not the usual tweet fest about fake news. Shits becoming real.

Wasn't there also a Hillary angle, where emails were going to be shared that showed a clear relationship there?

Even if Jr's intent was to work with the Russian government (that's rather ambiguous anyway) doesn't mean it panned out for him.

I dont think it should matter. The meeting is enough.

It seems the goal is to hamper this guys administration and render it impotant, or otherwise unable to move without every tiny detail being scrutinized.

It seems to be working. This time he has absolve himself by letting his son take the fall for him, like the honorless punk bitch he is.

Wonder what will happen next?

Of course he has enemies who's goal is to render him impotent, but the administration certainly seems to be a willing acomplise in their own demise

@Sin3 Yes, it was a Hillary and Russia angle. Yes, the meeting apparently didnt pan out, and neither did the Hillary thing. Also she isnt president, and I dont think the lewer matters.

Also, I'm not sure how "ambiguous" the alleged collusion really is. "This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” This is part of an email from Rob Goldstein to Trump Jr. To which he allegesly replied "if it is what you say it is, I love it."
(I'm having a harder time actually tracking down Jr's response. That may be deliberate. However, Goldsteins email is a primary source. But I dont see anyone claiming the emails were misrepresented.)

I grant that it isnt a hundred percent, but I guarantee you this is not going away.

Anyone who believes anything they're hearing from the American media or DC establishment re: Russia is a naive dupe. Neocon/lib Russophobes are world class, professional subversives, liars and war-mongers; they have been doing this sort of thing for centuries. Anyway, Putin is a BOSS KGB judo master and America is a declining, degenerate empire led by faggots, feminists and bolsheviks. Better to be controlled by him than led by the weak buffoons elected in our fagocracy. Eurasia is the next center of world power; Anglo-faggots will be driven off the world island and into the sea! Viva Putin and the new Eurasian Empire!

BroNil, I think there's way more skepticism of the narrative than there is belief. The Never Trumpers just hate the guy that much they are looking for anything that would remove him from office. An email exchange about intel can be twisted in a number of ways to show 'collusion' but it wasn't Trump himself; so I don't know that there is any levity there unless the smoking gun is something tangible that proves he put Jr. up to it.

It's all grasping at straws.

Jr insists it's just opposition research. Just because it's not a customary practice, doesn't mean what he did was illegal.

The narrative the Dems were selling hard was there was a direct link with the Trump family colluding with Russian officials. Neither an attorney representing a pop star or a publicist is an official. Email Transcript

Basically it amounts to gossip, none of which gave the Trump campaign the intel they needed. Jr. was only directly communicating with Rob, not the Crown Prosecutor.

This is precisely why Trump is in fact defending his son. Link

Russia denied having any influence or contact during the election process.

A lawyer meeting with the fucking campaign manager during the campaign is enough.

Clinton got nailed by his witch hunt for lying about fucking an intern.

He did not have sexual relations like Trump didn't authorize that meeting.

The common thread is the same.

The opposing party doesn't like the result, so now they dredge the lakebed for any piece of debris.

And it appears they found something.

By official government yes, (not contact, just direct influence) and seeing that there doesn't appear to be any evidence aside he said, she said gossipy stuff; it's still yet to be proven. This is why the Dems keep harping on keeping the investigation on-going (at Tax payer expense mind you). They haven't found the smoking gun. Not sure if they ever will but the idea is to keep populating negative press about the Trumps.

By that logic, the American Media is the most influential of all isn't it? Alas, that's Americans influencing other Americans.

In a recent poll, despite all the hullaboo, people still think Trump has a good chance of getting re-elected in 2020.

There's also a spark of Celebrity throwing down. Over 120 people have already put their names in for President for the next election. Would you rather have The Rock next term? Either way, it's all a show, sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

It's not just Democratic Party sour grapes over losing the election that keeps the Washington establishment pushing hostility rather than friendship with Russia. A "big enemy" is needed to justify permanent massive arms production and PhysWar military expense. Mere assorted Arab "terrorism" is too small. Orwell nailed it:

But this would provide only the economic and not the emotional basis for a hierarchical society. What is concerned here is not the morale of masses, whose attitude is unimportant so long as they are kept steadily at work, but the morale of the Party itself. In other words it is necessary that he should have the mentality appropriate to a state of war. It does not matter whether the war is actually happening, and, since no decisive victory is possible, it does not matter whether the war is going well or badly. All that is needed is that a state of war should exist.

Problem today is that nukes on both sides are on an even shorter hair trigger than during the Cold War. Just pne mistake and ...

Certainly, the war machine requires feeding. In other news, when we've managed to ally all nations, we can move on to Space Games. The Final Frontier.

So then the justifications can be transposed to an inter-galactic threat vs. a terrestrial one.

Meanwhile in Russia... the brightest star is going to cause issues for astronomers. Blasted bright light... Though it wasn't exactly a shock, the announcement came Last February With all the propagated tensions, the 2014 rumor that it was going to be an orbital weapon have resurfaced.

At a time when there's a 5-minute window from nuke-launch to target, orbital weapons are beside the point: a toy for the James Bond movie Diamons Are Forever.

What the Earth needs to make it quit all the planetary squabbling is a serious UFO threat, aka War of the Worlds. Occasional visits to suck up cows and have sex with housewives isn't going to cut it. In one of the episodes of the original Outer Limits, a conspiracy of scientists modified one of themselves into an artificial "alien" to simulate a threat to Earth to bring about such a unifying peace: "Architects of Fear"
