DeMille's novels are famous for his MCP heroes and women who give it right back to them. Brenner outranked Sunjill, so sent her on the errand.

The movie was respectable, with John Travolta as the wise-ass Brenner.

MP Colonel Kent: So neither of you is alibied for the night of the murder.
Brenner [to Sunhill]: You should have come to my BOQ room.
Sunhill: I'd rather be a murder suspect.

DeMille wrote the story at about the time the Service Academies were admitting their first female cadets/midshipwomen. I won't spoil the nightmare plot for those who haven't read/seen it. It does for Army PSYOP what Apocalypse Now did for SF.

I am not so sure John Travolta was directed by Cecil DeMille... Though I wouldn't deny it would be a big success. Psychological warfare techniques are aimed at influencing a target audience's value system, belief system, emotions, motives, reasoning, or behavior. I cannot see the resemblance of PSYOPs with Apocalypse Now, except if John Travolta is involved in any way. In fact , wise-ass Brenner was a cover-up for Mr.Spok.

That's Nelson, not Cecil, who wrote the novel. Cecil's the director who made Anne Baxter flip a coin to decide whether she liked Yul or Chuck better with his shirt off.
Isl
ND's written several lively novels, of which I also like Plum Island, a shivery bio warfare caper, and Gold Coast, which he describes as "The Great Gatsby meets the Godfather".

My two favorite "dark" novelists are ND and James Ellroy, who wrote something evil to me in my first edition of his Black Dahlia. \:\/

Michael Mann, famous for Miami Vice, did a superb film version of The Keep, and also a delicious 60s cop series. Crime Story, available in two DVD sets.

Also check out the boxed set of the complete run of Dark Skies, which has more zip to it than X-Files. I bet you didn't know that JFK was actually killed by space aliens. \:o

You know what? You, Niners, are fucking stupid. All of you, without even one exception. More so, you're stupid by nature. So irrevocably stupid that no amount of herbs, rituals, secret tasks and forums is going to make you any wiser. You will always remain stupid and... blind.

An internet forum existed exists, and this triggers me!

Also, the fuck is this about herbs/ rituals/ etc? I remember people shooting the shit, not some Wiccan candle party.

The same people who were there are here and they are "rude" as this Niner complained because this is their new found " religion" and the style of conducting debates. It's the same soap opera with all the same actors. There is nothing to miss.

Ahhhh I see. Normalization through fictions.

Similarly, it's like what Manning is doing for the Trans issue in the military . Even though that deferment announcement came out on 6/30/17, when Trump tweeted it on the 25th, Triggered.

Even today, I bet female cadets still fetch coffee. ;\)

There's a lot of weak people out there being handled, vs. learning how to be the handler.

The pecking order at the Academies is by class - low to high: Plebe, Yearling, 2nd Class, 1st Class. Plebe year is continuous hazing even today;it used tone intense to a dangerous degree.

I see the Prez has just Tweeted TGs out of the military. Lots of howling going on. Actually he's "crazy like a fox": Post-2016 analysis revealed that Hillary lost a substantial number of votes due to her active endorsement of "bathroom choice". Trump's action now forces all the Dems to go loudly on record pro-TG ... this just befor the 2018 elections!

The backstory is a DoD medical obligation issue. Under Obama TGs were entitled to operations & hormones from DoD. Since post-op TGs generally have terrible times with their bodies for the rest of their lives, this would put DoD on the permanent hook for all complications: cancer, drug consequences, etc. That's the real fear.

Although it hasn't gotten the same media circus yet, CNN sez that Trump's also stopped DoD from paying for Viagra. Imagine all those John Wayne types with cooked asparagus instead of raw cucumbers. \:\(

At one time when I wa a Major, I worked for a lady Colonel. Guess who got the coffee. \:D

Oh it's way more complicated than just the surgery/hormones issue. The so-called 'accommodations' aren't very accommodating for transitioning active duty. Aside that, they are gearing up for more deployments in approx. a month. Like I said, that deferment was announced nearly a month ago. In the words of Sweet Brown... "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Trump held a rally the day before (I watched it live) he was a hoot, triggering all the topics and he was shooting from the hip. Since he didn't want the buzz of support to wear off, and he was hoping to use it to get more Christian Republicans on board, he took to twitter. He didn't mention it live, and on camera for a reason. Besides, what he's stated on Twitter isn't legally binding.

The deferment only applies to new recruits, active duty remain unaffected; aside the review of some 250 cases of transitioning service members.

The estimated 25K of Trans openly serving, were the collateral damage of his calculated move. Remember, he's still trying to find ways to get the Christian Right on his side in the house for the Health Care Reform. They've been blocking it at every step. So the DoD had to scramble and make statements because now there's an influx of military personally inquiring into their status. Trump just created a domino affect of things, even though people keep saying what he did was an inaction, not an action. That includes man hours, wasted resources and events the public isn't privy to.

In order to win over that support, he's got to be bold. That Tweet qualifies, considering the ramifications of his statement "...in no capacity". This alludes to discussions already had in house, even if policy hasn't changed officially.

People are flipping over the funding for Viagra in contrast to medical care but what they don't understand, is there's more to it than subscribing a few scripts and sex reassignment surgery. Plus, there's the x number of cases for counseling due to depression and other byproducts of being distressed and confined by your 'gender'. Blah blah you know the drill.

Pecking order is funny in the service. When my son was a peon, he was getting accolades of a higher ranking member. Now that he's a Corporal, he's treated like a peon by the higher command.

Excellent, so if they implement the draft again, I can just claim to be transgender.

Gotta hand it to Trump's 10d Chutes and Ladders skills. Tremendous.

Scott Adams has been pretty on point when it comes to Trump. He predicts that your "domino affect" will be triggered by good messaging. He says Scaramucci is the key to that, but perhaps the transgender military thing is also a part of that.

Tell him to just win the Medal of Honor [prehumously]. One of the perks is that everyone else now has to salute you first, regardless of rank.

This makes all kinds of sense. If my non-existent medical issue of having overly cautious doctors got me DQ'd, it's surreal to me that someone who has a "medical condition" requiring extensive therapy and surgery is A-OK. (Yes, I'm bitter.)

I also have to wonder about how it applies to standards, since there are still distinct male and female fitness standards. There are a number of cases in sports of male-to-female transwomen mopping the floor with ciswomen. I have to wonder if maybe someone who couldn't hack it as a man figured they could achieve a female standard.

Today, Scaramucci is under fire for using 'bad words'. People are once again trigged by this administration. That, coupled with the legislation that protects (allegedly) LGBTQ from discrimminiation and statements made about it. More messages to confound and confuse. Now people are distracted away from "Russia! Russia! Russia!" and are back on the hunt for Trump's head on a spike.

Meanwhile, North Korea is still throwing rocks but they are getting closer and closer to hitting a target. This accounts for why the orders were changed and deployments were moved up by 60 days.

So yeah, military generals are all "STFU with this shit, we got bigger fish to fry."

Per the topic:

What's to become of this place? Seems like there are only a handful of us posting now, and I don't know how long I'll be here. There don't even seem to be any moderators around now, or maybe they just keep quiet? Far as I can tell this place was (re?) founded in 2007, when I was still in college. Most people have come and gone, and we've lost a few recently. It says there are like 50-90 members 'online,' but are they members? Are there really that many just not logging in/reading only? Always been curious about that.

Ah well fuck, the ship sails on.

I am still here. Just simply been busy. I do read through current posts, but unless I feel that I have something to add, I don't post. Sometimes the one line rule can be limiting.
