Thelema is only part of what we can understand as cognition throughout everyday life. Not that it conflicts with a religion but with our cognitive ability.
Not even as sinister with the occasional whores, there would be a flaw in semantics. A resonance of the ideal, an appeal. Not about what is not understandable, but about what we live.

Thelema was/is a competent precursor to compelling understanding of the psyche. Take a look at the first unicursal hexagram from 1639 by Blaise Pascal. It features a central 5-leaf clover, which you can adopt as a "pet" within invocations. What resonates with ideals is especially individual. And semantics are just a manipulation of memes.
