I'm rusty, but I've spoken it over the years in Satanic rituals. Just stick to the English translations and your tongue won't fall off trying to form the words.

Alright I was just wondering so I can try it on a ritual one of these days. The language looks beautifull like lavey described it to be

Enochian isn't a "real" language. It was made up by John Dee in Elizabethan England, and is more akin to transcribed glossolalia.

Nonetheless, it can be a powerful ritual tool. I for one think the Enochian Keys in the Satanic Bible sound quite evocative when recited in a romantic accent... (but for some reason most other Enochian texts sound outright ridiculous, like the babbling of a retarded infant)

I prefer Latin and Greek personally, though. They're more structured with a richer palette of expression.

Anyways, Enochian grammar is nearly identical to English so you can pretty much just stick with a dictionary and you'll be fine...

If you listen to Aleister Crowley speaking Enochian and Anton LaVey speaking Enochian, it's almost like two different languages. Crowley, being English, had a softer, lilting quality to his pronunciation of the words, and at times comes off as almost sing-song in its delivery.

Within the Church of Satan, we treated Enochaian a bit differently, and spoke the words forcefully. The theory was that the tonalities produced by doing this were designed to "ripple the air," like the effect of a gong when struck. It wasn't so much in asking for results, as with Crowley, but sternly saying, "THIS WILL COME TO PASS."

It actually is hard to write in Enochian, but not for the reason you might think. I once tried to write a poem in the language, and it was fairly easy to compile, except for the major pain in the butt caused by the fact that half the words I wanted to use didn't even exist.

It would probaly be easy to write(if the right words were present), but I can see the delema in the processe of writing it. But I just can't get my head around how to pronounce the words.

The only person these words will hold power with is the one who uses them... Why are you so concerned with pronunciation? Do you think that if you mispronounce something then your super Satan powers may not work, or that you may unleash something you cannot control?

Are you thinking that ultimate power can be had through reciting the right words in a dark room with some candles?

Say it like greek or hebrew, or even spanish if it helps you get your head around it(without harder Js of course) Any latin-esque phonetic pronunciation would do.

That's right, Ta2zz! People get so hung up on the minutia of things that they lose sight of what's important.

"If the words sound queer or strange to the ear, a little jumbled and jivey, say mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy!"

LaVey once wrote about a competent magician who did his ritual to perfection, but found that when he had completed all of the steps, he just didn't feel like he had made it. He had pronounced his grand incantation, but that was done... he needed more, so, with as much passion as he could muster, he recited THE JABBERWOCKY, bringing the ritual to a close with the tolling of his gong.

The words you use should inspire passion for the working.

Well I can definetly see how i'm getting caught up then. I didn't think that my ritual wasn't going to work, just thought it would be kinda different feel to be speaking in that pure form.

And for unleashing somthing I could not control wasn't even in my mind but I wouldn't think that anything would come of speaking them wrong, except feeling stupid by reading the words wrong but thanks for the different perspective Jake999 and ta2zz.

I heard the Crowley renditions, and it unfortunately did sound a little "weak", but remember kids, we have no idea what was going on within him... he may have heard/intoned an entirely different thing... his words like echoes across a great divide, the ground rumbling, clouds breaking, and hence there is the subjectivity previously discussed.

If this is truly, "the language of the angels", then do your best, I can still ask "where the is the bathroom?" in my best, poor Spanish, and you know what? They send me down the way to a place I have to pay to take a piss.... but I got there.

Hmm... Dee and Kelly should have made a practical "conversational Enochian" guide or something.

VO I HAGONF? - Where is the bathroom?

Only "Angels" don't need to take a wazz...

or do they?

My point, however misguided and misconstrued, is... even in the "worst" Enochian, you probably will get your point across...

whatever that is...
