I am trying to revive this idea after we let it go stagnant for a while. I am proposing a fun, friendly, free game of poker. You will need to be a member of myspace or facebook and have the poker app installed. See the original thread started by Zephyrgirl for more information if you need it. As stated, this will be a fun game. There isn't any money involved. All levels of play are welcome. Whether you are just beginning to learn the game or fancy yourself a pro. To make this work, it has to be available to as many as possible. I know some of you that are interested live in different parts of the world or work odd schedules. Right now, I am not working so I can play at 2 in the morning on a Tuesday or noon on a Saturday. Let's give this a couple of weeks to build interest and allows others to read this. I would like to get some time frames from the folks that are interested. What would work best for you? I propose a Friday evening. Shouldn't be too many that have to work the next day. Say somewhere around 9pm est. Drop a line in here if interested with a time and day that works best for you. It would help if you convert your time to Eastern Standard Time for us dummies that don't know what time 3pm in Uzebekistan is. We'll see how much interest there is and try to work out a time and day. I'll post an announcement of the day and time it will start. When I have the table set up, I will post that information here as well with enough time for others to log on and find it. It will be a private table just for us. May all your cards be live ones.

In the worlds of Lamb of God....

"This is a mother fucking invitation! The only one you could ever need!"

Count me in. And set a time and call it that. Once people start saying this time and that, you'll never get a final time.

9pm EST Friday sounds good. It's a date.

The problem me and Zeph ran into was that folks would express interest but wouldn't show up. I'm trying to get a few more. That way it doesn't turn into a 2 or 3 man show. I hate playing a short handed table. Unless it is folks I don't know. Then I exploit them.

Like Disabuse mentioned... just do it, call it the regular... and then if it's dissapointing and more feedback arises... make a new regular.

You'll at the very least be playing with someone other than yourself...

I could make it a weekly thing. It's easy enough. Then, anyone that had interest could just pop in there.

I'll open a private table tonight. It will be called "trip 6" and the password to get in will be 600club. I won't open it until 9pm est. You should be able to find it by clicking on the private table tab when you open the poker app. Or you can try to find me as a poker buddy. I'll keep the buyin at the minimum. I think it might be 1 and 2 blinds. That way, no one loses a bunch and has a shitty time. I'll hang around in there for a while to give folks a chance. No takers, and I will close it and move on to something else.

I tried finding it from myspace, but without luck. Says something about having to be on the same server as my "buddies." and I wasn't sure which "casino" to go to. Might need more details the next time as to how to find the table. So you were in luck, you got to keep your chips tonight \:\)

I shut it down after an hour. It was just me and Disabuse playing heads up. He wasn't catching cards and I was being dealt premium hands. Seemed like highway robbery.

Asmedious, I don't remember if I have you as a friend on there. If not, that could be a small hinderance. PM me and we can take care of that.

D... I play on there at various hours. You might be able to find me when the time is right.

If you have AIM...that would help. I often play at higher level buy ins and there isn't really a way for folks to let me know they are on and want to play. Unless I see them pop up in my poker friends window or they join the room I am in and let me know via the chat box.

I got the app working so I guess I can play poker when others are online. I'll check it from time to time.
I changed my myspace a tiny bit so if you wonder who that freak is, it's me.

Use the above link to figure out what time it is in the world. Now no one should have the "I dunno what time it is in EST".

There is no link. You need to be on myspace, facebook, etc. You need to have the Zynga poker app. We will announce when a table has been set up. Then you just need to log in and find us and join.

The game continues to evolve. You won't get rich quick just by reading a book and playing a few hands. Some of the most skilled veterans that have been at this for 20 years fail to make final tables now. My recommendation is to play numerous hands online, for money, and mix in some live games. You will get a blend of situations and can build on that. Don't expect to make suitcases full of money though. That will come with seeing millions of hands and time. I'm still trying.

What I also do is watch late night poker tournaments on television. I suppose you got them there too but here it is only on TV since short. Last year poker was close to non-existent, today we got it on 3 or 4 channels. The way they play and the comments on it are insightful.

That, and playing online doesn't make me the best player but it sure stops me from being the worst.

Keep in mind what you see on tv has been severely edited. They only show the interesting hands. Aces getting beaten by Jack 10. The commentary is then dubbed in after they have selected how that particular program is going to run. They just finished a tournament in Atlantic City. I followed along by reading a daily blog. The main event took 5 days and up to 14 hours a day to play. Now you have to edit 14 hours down to one hour of highlights. What you don't get to see is the hundereds of hands that got folded around to the big blind. You also don't get to see the guy that has figured out what the guy sitting 2 seats away from him is up to, and how he begins to set him up to take a large amount of chips from him. The "omg I can't believe he laid that hand down" play that you see on tv was a result of this strategy being played out over hours.

Don't get me wrong. Some of these programs really do have something to offer. Yes they can be another tool in your box to improve play. But it should be a very minor part of that tool box. I really like "Poker After Dark". It's like a friendly(or sometimes not so friendly) home game with the heavy hitters of poker as guests. They talk about past games. Talk about golfing. Laugh at each other. Once in a while, one will leave the table to talk to the hostess and relate what's going through his head, why he did something, or why another player did what he did. A really good show.

Yeah I know it is edited but it's the best we got, there are no other programs. Poker is not a part of our culture and the only use of those shows is try to get people into playing online, the advertising is more than obvious, but I try to get out of it what I can.

There has been some renewed interest in reviving this. Myspace/Facebook/Zynga is still tweeking the site, so private tables are not an option. But if anyone wants to get together on a public table, that would be swell. Last night, myself, Morgan, and Asmedious met up. Ringmaster mentioned a weekend game this weekend. I would like to get as many members as possible from this site that want to play at a table. Try to coordinate this again? Zeph? Wanna play?

Unfortunately I work weekend night at this time, so i probably couldn't make that.

I did enjoy the game last night on MY Space poker, although evertime I attempted to raise, the system folded my hand for some reason. Which is why morgan beat me on that last large hand with two pair, when I had three F&(%*$ing KINGS!!

Myspace poker locks up sometimes. I have had the stupid game fold my hands when I didn't want it to. The same with the raises. I think its a fucking time delay issue for some reason. Its a cheap free site, and kinda sucky, thats why I mostly play at pokerstars.
Tonight and sunday, I can't play, but maybe next week.

I logged on to Zynga last night to play. They have changed the site around, AGAIN. There is no longer the option for a private table. So to make this work, we would have to set a time and date, and anyone interested would have to buddy search to find the table someone is playing at. Even then, there is no guarantee that you would be able to sit at that table.

I know Full Tilt dot Net has an option for creating private tables, and it is a free site only. All you have to do is create an account and you get 4000 chips(I think). If you go to fulltilt.com that is a money site. I am not familiar with the other sites I use, as I only play for money on them.

So, it looks like either we announce in advance when we will be playing on Myspace/Facebook and look for each other, or create accounts on Full Tilt or another site. If anyone would like to donate to me, feel froggie to make a deposit to a cash site and let me know your user name. If your game is strong, maybe I'll be donating to you.

I have to drive to Nashville today to pick up my sister-in-law at the airport, but I'll see about setting up an account and maybe be able to sit in on some poker in the near future. Some of them used to be unaccessible on a Mac, so that might limit where I can get in to as a player.

I apologize in advance if I have my facts wrong. I have not played on Full Tilt dot net in ages. I primarily play for money. But I spend a decent amount of time playing freebie stuff on Zynga with friends and folks that want to learn the game.

I remember the last time I played at dot net, it was possible to set up a private, password only, table. Limits, number of players, and type of game could all be tweaked and set in advance. I will have to download it again and check back into that.

I also remember on Full Tilt dot com(money site), it was possible to set up a freebie table where cash was paid out. A freeroll where the winner might win a cash prize set by the person that put it together. Corporations and websites would use that as a way to reward clients. I've played in some tournaments set up by a local radio station that way.

That may be another option we could explore. Since funding your online poker accounts in the USA is both difficult and illegal (which hasn't stopped me), maybe setting up some kind of money game would be of interest? Keep it cheap. Winner walks away with say $20 or so. But you would have to pay to play.

Some ideas for me to explore this week and see what I can figure out.

The key is interest and committment. It's no fun playing with just 3 players.

An afterthought to anyone that is interested in playing free poker and watches any poker on tv. You will see ads for sites that are "free" and do not offer any gambling, yet offer cash prizes or buyins to events. Player beware. What these sites offer you is free poker. Except every five seconds you will be bombarded by popup ads and ads galore. The trick to stopping them, is you have to sign up for a monthly "platinum" membership, for a monthly fee. Usually $25 that automatically renews each month. The other gimmick is you have to click an ad every X amount of time or it will end your session. Nothing is worse than being dealt AA and having to click an ad to continue the play or lose it. Suddenly, free isn't so free.
