I am currently doing a research on Satanism and music. I will
appreciate if you can give me a list of bands that had composed music about Satan/Lucifer. I will like a list of songs that are in some way related to Satanism. Thanks for your help.

Lots of bands have done songs like that. Their relationship to Satanism, however, is suspect.

There are songs that could be construed as being related to Satanism, but they rarely are actually about Satan.

Look up the song "Satan Loves Me" by Dan R. Mohammed. It is a wonderful little ditty that is actually a parody of a popular Xian hym.

There are countless songs about Satan/Lucifer in black metal, and most of them are just "RRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWR!!! SATAAAN WILL RIIIIISE!!!! SPILL THE BLOOD OF THE CHRISTIANS!!!! RAAAWWR!"

Although as far as actual Satanic philosophy goes beyond the typical "Hail Satan!" stuff, two songs by an industrial band called X-Fusion have caught my attention, called "C'mon Devil", and "Bringer of Light"

If this is turning into the music thread,

then, I'll have to recommend Dimmu Borgir's latest... "In Sorte Diaboli" - their first "concept album" - lots of stuff to chew on there, and, some really well played music, I was suprised... and impressed.

Funny thing about that band; they are all really nice guys. Don't know why that is suprising, but I suppose their "intimidating" appearance would lead one to believe they are assholes. Then again, appearances can be deceiving.

If you like DB check out 1349. Same kind of music, but they mix more of punk sound into it. Very quite interesting actually.

Ah seriously, google it.

The music world is awash in bad death metal bands who 'sing' about satan. Nearly everything out there is pretty bad.

For me, most music ended about the mid-90's when I became a dad and had real responsibilities. I now rely on other people to bring me new stuff because I don't get out much and don't really have an ear to ground in the music scene anymore.

However, here are a few from back in the day that I think represent the LHP well:

My personal theme song - Am I Demon

Here are the lyrics -

Hordes of faces
Empty eyes
I see nothing new
Seasoned schemes of slimy curs
Offer up their flu
Am I beast or
Am I human
Am I just like you
Power seething
Really reeling
Reaching out for you

Am I demon
You need to know

Faces of a million hells
Rage inside these veins
Pounding out desrved pain
To anyone in need
Am I beast or
Am I human
Am I just like you
Power seething
Really reeling
Reaching out for you
Am I demon
Need to know

Am I demon
Need to know

Every world
And every limb
Torn asunder base
Everything I need is me
Everything I am
Am I beast or
Am I human
Am I just like you
Power seething
Really reeling
Reaching out for you

Am I demon
You need to know

Am I demon
Need to know.

And then there is this little number - Archangel

Go

Heaven sends me here to you
And if a-you fear you've reason to
Open up all seven seals
The beast is come to claim the youth

Archangel
Archangel
Defiant brood
Defiant brood
I call on you

Casted down my bretheren
Rebels from authority
Power, pride, contempt and lust
All these things I give to you

Archangel
Archangel
Defiant brood
Defiant brood
I call on you

I am not your son of God
The prince of light will show no fear
Mine is that which rules this world
The beast is come, I am the end

Archangel
Archangel

And when they cast out the brood
For the sin of pride misused
And when they cast down to Hell
Fucking brood

Archangel
Archangel

Heaven sends me here to you
And if a-you fear you've reason to
Open up all seven seals
The beast is come to claim the youth

Archangel
Archangel
Archangel
Archangel
Go

Archangel.

And of course - Lords of the Lefthand

Left hand power of the pure

The world will tremble at our command

Left hand power of the lords

Builds upon our destiny

Destiny, take this land

Take this land by the death of man

Left hand triumph of the will

The world will whimper in our wake

At war with the planets

At war with all mankind

We will change the face of this earth

As our lord commands

In our holy quest for supremacy

Be our holy crime

Left hand power to take

What was ours from the day of birth

Left hand is grasping strong

It does not fear its destiny

At war with the planets

At war with all mankind

We will change the face of this earth

As our lord commands

In our holy quest for supremacy

Be our holy crime

Left hand, destiny

Left hand

At war with the planets

At war with all mankind

We will change the face of this earth

As our lord commands

In our holy quest for supremacy

Be our holy crime.

Actually I was surprised as well. Most of their early songs were "skullfuck the Christians!" and "DEMONS ARE TEH AWESOMEM!!!!", but In Sorte Diaboli took me a bit by surprise because the lyrics were more of a long "Satanic Diatribe" that touched on a few philosophical points about the nature of faith, the will to power, and other topics. Not Shakespeare or anything, but still worth it.

And of course, there are the classic rock titles like "Sympathy for the Devil"- modern metal music aside.

If your looking for something a little more subtle than RAAWWWWR try these 2 for starters:-

Sympathy for the Devil - The Rolling Stones

Driving South - The Stone Roses

Enjoy.

You sir, are an idiot. Please to be explaining how this song is about satan? It's about teenage angst and depression on the surface. Read a little deeper and I think you see it is about an addiction. To make this a little easier, here are the lyrics......

I want to fly into your sun
Need faith to make me numb
Live like a teenage christ
Im a saint, got a date with suicide

Oh Mary, Mary
To be this young is oh so scary
Mary, Mary
To be this young im oh so scared
I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell
I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell

You never said forever, could ever hurt like this
You never said forever, could ever hurt like this

Spin my way out of hell, theres nothing left this soul to sell

Live fast and die fast too
How many times to do this for you?
How many times to do this for you?

Mary, Mary
To be this young im oh so scared
I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell
I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell

You never said forever, could ever hurt like this
You never said forever, could ever hurt like this

I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell

Long hard road, out of hell

I wanna live, I wanna love
But its a long hard road, out of hell

Sell my soul for anything, anything but you
Sell my soul for anything, anything but you

Hold on, phone call. What? The village is calling, they are missing their idiot.

Ding ding ding ding ding: We have a winner folks. Long Hard Road out of Hell is indeed a song about depression and addiction. Mansons autobiography and this song share a title. In the book his motivations for naming both the song and the book are laid out in plain english.

Also note that this song was originally released on the soundtrack to Spawn, originally meant to be collaboration between Manson and The Sneaker Pimps, the only way this song can even be loosely associated with a literal hell is the story line from Spawn. I.E. the character Spawn trying to fight is way out of hell.

Any real Manson fan could tell you that none of his songs are actually about Satan. Songs with titles like Anti-Christ Superstar or Little Horn might lead one to jump to conclusions but if one was to read a little deeper, as suggested by FP, they would see most the songs are metaphorical and influenced by drug use, relationships and self-loathing.
