Outstanding.

Firstly, this should be a mandatory briefing for everyone who thinks they give a shit. I am sending the TED link to everyone I know (mostly normal people).

People do not understand the economic peril we are in, how we got here, and what we will need to do to get out of it. Every politician is simply trying to give us more 'hair-of-the-dog' that got us to this sorry state to begin with. Of course, Ron Paul has been preaching this economic message for years but the MSM has relegated him to kook status. Strangely, they did the same thing to Pat Buchanan and Steve Forbes who had the same message in their presidential runs.

Why are we in this hand basket and why is it getting hot?

As to the technology angle - yes, yes, and yes. We are entering a Brave New World indeed. My wife and I have a joke that we are entering the world of "Blade Runner" - "If your not Cop your little people." Our science fiction is rapidly becoming science fact. It will be a strange blend of "Blade Runner" and William Gibson's "Neuromancer." The technological, economic, and political landscape are all trending in the direction of very 'dirty future' indeed. The pace of change will be beyond the capacity of govts and most people to manage. About 10-15 years ago many traditionalists scorned the internet as the 'Wild, Wild, West.' They ain't seen nothin yet!

Personally, I do believe that we are entering the New Aeon. It is not here yet but the stage is being set. This will be the new 'Satanic Age' that old hands of Satanism have been talking about for the last 20 years. Remember, human events take generations and the history of these events is usually written long after people have lived through them.

We sort of danced around this point in "The Concept." Remember, we are talking generational change. Nothing less than a phase shift in the current paradigm. There will be no 'Eureka!' moment. It will not just appear overnight, but it is happening.

I did encounter this remarkable piece of new technology today. It's baby-steps but its potential is quiet interesting and frightening at the same time.

Reminds me of "Dune" - but I believe this is what we're trying to accomplish anyway... minus the electrodes? Or just me?

But I'm a hippy... woohoo, technology!

Yes, daevid, for some people the movement of objects in the real world is something they "work" on.

I have to agree with Diavolo, this device has a great capasity to do damage if put to "bad" use.
I am suprised that the military hasn't taken control of this and taken it out the public domain.

On the other hand, the use of this technology within the porn industry would be amazing.

The part that troubles me most is the "calibrating".

Sure it will be fun for games; you'll calibrate your commands for left, right, pull, fade... and the more complex the games get, the more you have to calibrate, shoot, steal, kick, eat...
Maybe after a while more complex formats are possible and again, we calibrate the stuff and save our unique waves to a fucking computer.

Then one day we enter a store and they know it's us, the salesmen know I want to buy what shit even when I pretend to not be too interested and they might even know how much I'm willing to pay for it, kindly adjusting the price up a bit. And I can certainly forget robbing out the place.

This Tom Cruise movie sure doesn't feel that futuristic at the moment.
It's not that I dislike technology; make me a cyborg baby, pretty please, but I sure as hell won't give them my personal codes for a 20$ game.

The potential abuse is frightening, add to that probabilities and I'm going to be pretty right that our next control unit is going to be called fascistic. Only make sure it's not the Lefties, else you're going to be really fucked.

WOW. That is simply amaizing. The possibilities for that technology hurt my brain just thinking about it. Very cool stuff.

Looking at all of the videos above, makes me feel like a caveman. Feeling left behind.

Thank god we have religion to slow this progress down. We can regrow major organs, making the nursing that I practice today seem barbaric. Imagine, if stem research wasn't regulated becasue of religious objections about "playing god," instead of working on making old burned out hearts still viable we could just regrow one. Shit I'd be out of business.

I'm being sarcastic of course.

No, I'd love a freezer full of freshly cloned organs, or "organs on demand", when the case may prove necessary. This would have been nice to have... five or ten years ago... bastards.

Medicine, that is the "practice of medicine" will never go out of business... and I know you know this Asmedious. Money... needs to get out of the way as well.

Yep - Socialized Medicine here folks - call me "Commie". You shouldn't have to die just because you can't afford a doctor... but I'm now going over the rainbow.

I thought it was well presented. We are continually making sweeping advances with highly potential technology. We couldn't give it a worse application. Mind you the gov't is approximately 10 years ahead of what we are allowed to know about. Most of these clashes, I think, are related not to the need of food or land, but culture/religious clash. Maybe one day we will pull our heads out of "gods" ass and start thinking. Mind you it won't happen in my lifetime, but you know. I think it is safe to say that most of us here had at one point all had our head up "gods" ass, and all here have seen, just as ours is, his too is full of shit.
