And what do you do? I mostly do body weight exercises and bench press as well as going for jogs every now and then, and lots of heavy bag training

I don't really workout to look good as much as I do to beat people up so I don't really worry about how much calories I intake and just eat whatever offers the most protein.

I recently made up my own push up routine.

Instead of doing three sets of forty standard push ups followed by explosive push ups until failure like I usually do I decided to add some more variations to my routine.

Standard Push Up 1x20
Wide Push Up 1x20
Elevated Push Up 1x20 or until failure
Diamond Push Up 1x15 or until failure
Explosive Push Up until failure
Isometric Push Up 2x30 seconds

it's only my second day of doing this routine but it seems like it's working.

I try to alternate every day- isolations one day and cardio the next... Pull up bars work well if you're looking to do build up upper body mass.

The body is a weapon of war. It is important to keep it clean, well fueled, and in good running order. I used to do free weight until I was able to bench press 300 lbs. I got tired of bodybuilding and just got into a simple routine of calisthenics and fight training. I really don't like physical contact unless it's absolutely the last resort. I prefer to hex people.

I'm a pretty big guy, around 6'4" and nearly 200 pounds so for the most part people tend to avoid getting into physical conflicts with me. But I was a bit of a dweeb when I was younger, didn't workout and couldn't really fight well so I've been training myself in Boxing techniques and working out for a year now and it's amazing how people began to "bow down" to me. It's almost as if they can sense that I don't fuck around now and can theoretically kill some of them with my bare hands.

I like physical conflict to an extent. I'm a hyper aggressive person. There's something about fighting that I enjoy. Maybe it's the fact that the whole world dies down for a little while and it's just about you and the person in front of you. In the same token I'm just as comfortable relaxing and being friendly with people, usually I let the other person challenge me in some way and then I smack them down.

Fighting and even killing are a pleasure, preferably if you are the one winning. Unfortunately, doing these things in public may eventually get you locked up or the subject of some lawsuit. There are legal avenues that allow us to pursue these pleasures. The military is one, and the professional fight game is the other.
Violence in our society is something that is publicly condemned, but secretly condoned. If you are really good at it, it can be very lucrative.

I work out every day, alternating push-ups, sit-ups, and squats... I also do some free weights to supplement on the days when I feel like an extra push. I eat very healthy, and I have had some martial arts training in the past which I practice when the weather is nice and I have time. I also drink lots of water.

If you have any MA training, I would suggest that you never use it where there is any possibility of witnesses.

IMHO it is better to withdraw and fight on your own terms.

If you sit by the river long enough, you will see the bodies of all the sheeple you wish you could kill with your bare hands floating by... Or something like that ;\)

Sound a bit weird if your exercise consists of just push ups... If you want to be in a condition to beat up people, with that routine you are doomed to fail.
Human body is a lethal weapon, but you need to train the whole body. Mostly all movement comes from your abdomen/back/hips.
If you punch a guy with just the power of your arm, it'll get you nowhere, sure, it'll sting but it still leaves the opponent standing. And probably pretty pissed off... ;\)

I have found the greatest way of exercise, good old girya/kettlebell. There's not a thing you can't do with it. It's not very expensive and lasts forever. It comes in various sizes that can be used for many different training methods.
I myself currently use a 16kg kettlebell (about 35.3 lb) Most of the exercises I do are so hard for me that a lot bigger kettlebell would just brake my joints. My current routine consists of about 6 diferent moves and totals a little over 300 reps.
That training method is quite convenient cause I don't have the money nor time to go to a gym, and with the kettlebell I can do it all at home and it takes about 30-40 minutes.

Anybody else have any experience with the kettlebell? I'd like to hear about your exercise experience.

Edit. Oh, sorry, I somehow managed to read and already forget that you did mention all the other exercises as well... \:\)

Yeah I try and mix it up with a good all around routine. Push ups, clean and jerk, squats, bench press, dips, and I recently started doing sit ups. My main focus is push ups and bench though.

Also push ups actually will strengthen your abdominal muscles if you do them correctly.

If this is the case you are going about it all wrong. Calisthenics are fine and dandy, but they won't really help you in this regard. I recommend some thai boxing and/or BJJ classes if the goal is to be physically dominant over other humans.

Muscles are useless if they aren't trained.

Well, Lady CS, I sort of did. Muay Thai and BJJ are generally trained full contact. This is in direct contrast to most 'other' martial arts that are little more than the 'texas two step'.

My main point though is that huge muscly guys that dont know how to defend themselves generally fall about as quickly as little guys that don't know how to defend themselves \:\)

Quite true.

It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

It has been my general experience that a lot of big guys have coasted through life without having to actually fight much. They tend to have used intimidation more than skill.

All the same, few people have ever been in an actual street fight. I am not talking about some jackass fist-to-cuffs or bar room brawl. Rather, a real street fight with no rules where the loser goes to the hospital or the morgue.

In general, in a real street fight I would never recommend anyone roll around on the ground like MMA/BJJ. This is just begging to get your head kicked in by the guy's friends. Finish the fight quickly and violently. It should never go to ground.

Granted, BJJ is a tool in the tool box but it is not a multi-tool. It is a specialized tool for the fighter foolish enough to not finish the fight on his feet.

To actually win an unarmed life or death violent encounter, few things work better than the eye gouge. In my experience your opponent will simply lose the will to fight. You can then finish him with more traditional techniques.

I would also highly recommend Bas Ruten's "How to Win a Bar Fight" DVD. Clips of it are on youtube. Bas has one of the best styles around. It is very reminiscent of the old WWII style of US Army Combatives before we got all gay and adopted Modern Army Combatives.

Any fighting style worth it's salt is easy to learn, easy to employ, simple and utilizes techniques that can quickly cause incapacitation, disability, or death.

I've been a fan of UFC for the over a decade. I was one of the first on my block to stray into the local video store and pick up UFC #1 from the Korean guy running the shop. Back then, there were no rules. No weight limits. No gloves, no pussy stoppages, no regulations. You stepped in the octagon, fought your ass off until a winner was declared, and went back in the locker room to recover for 20-30 minutes before coming back out to face the next guy. Guys would pound the hell out of each other for 20 minutes, the winner would come back out bleeding and bruised and face the next guy. I witnessed 120 pounders take on 200 pounders and waste them. Look at some of Royce Gracie's fights from back then. He would dispatch foes twice his weight in seconds. Snapped elbows, choked out, ankle locks. He would absorb some brutal punishment initially, and then it was lights out. Today's UFC and MMA in general is apples to oranges to the initial game.

I've been in my share of street fights when I was younger. Where I grew up at there wasn't much else for kids to do other than fight each other so I know the "no rules" rule applies in a street fight. I've been training myself in Boxing and been thinking about joining a Boxing or maybe even a MMA gym since there is one nearby.
