Greetings, everyone. The end is nigh, my graduate degree is nearly complete. I would like to formally announce that my graduate degree recital will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 8:00 PM in Peabody Conservatory's Goodwin Hall in Baltimore. I would also like to extend a personal invitation to those of you in the Baltimore/Metro DC area (I wouldn't ask those of you who live out of the area, as it's just a graduate recital and it's only for one hour. However, you're more than welcome to attend if you wish); the recital is free and open to the public, and feel free to come up and say "hey!" at the end. The program should read "Robert Michael Adkins." The program will consist of the following repetoire:

Fernando Sor (1778-1839) - Fantaisie Elegiaque, Op. 59
I. Introduction/Fantasy
II. Marche Funebre

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) Lute Suite No. 2 in A minor,
BWV 997
Prelude
Sarabande
Gigue

Leo Brouwer (b. 1939) - El Decameron Negro
I. La arpa del guerrero
II. La huida de los amantes por
el valle de los ecos
III. La Ballada de la doncella enamorada

Agustin Barrios Mangore (1885-1941) - Vals, Op. 8, No. 3

Roland Dyens (b. 1955) - Tango en skai

Hope to see some of you there!

Cheers!

Mike

I wish I lived in that area...I'd be interested in hearing everything on the program. It's a bit much for me to travel almost a thousand miles, though...can you get a video of it? I was serious when I said I'd like to hear(/see) it...

That's fantastic Mike! I hope there will be someone there to get it on video. Please post it if you can, so those of us who live too far away to attend can cheer you on (even if it's a few days after the fact ;\)).

Thanks, everybody! I'm sure somebody there will be taping it. I am, however, looking into getting a digital camcorder of my own so that I know I'll get it captured. Any good (but economic, say ca. $200-300 range) camera recommendations? I don't know much about them as I've never owned one.

I don't own a digital camera. But I am in the area. If you can get a digital camera, I might be able to attend and film it. Though I may not be in the area at that time either. I would attend, but we really don't know what the future holds. Keep in touch, we can see where we stand as the day gets closer.

Don't know much about camera quality, but I'm sure you can find a little digital one for a cheap price who can film and take pictures. If you want to have quality; try something from nikon or canon.

I have a sony of 7.2 megapixel W-series DSC-W35.
Not very professional material but used with some skill or a tripod you can have very nice pictures and recordings. I've made quite some nice movies and pictures with it. I can provide several pictures or movies I made with it if you want to. And if you are going to buy the same type I'll have to say that when filming it adjusts itself on the movements of the "objects". So sometimes it might become a bit blurry..

KODAK Easyshare.

Takes awesome pictures, great quality videos, and standard SD cards. And it's under 200.

I have a 7.2 MP that still works like the day I bought it. A 2 gig SD will give me about 45 minutes of footage or over 1400 pictures. I have had other digital cameras in the past, but I really like the Easyshare best of all. Don't buy it at walmart, though. You don't get all the features and you'll only save, like, 15 dollars.

My little Casio rocks, and mine is only the 7MP version. The new one is 10MP....if you have a Sam's Club card, they're even cheaper:

Tonight's the big night! Wish me luck!

I bought my camera, so it will be filmed (barring any technical difficulties or incompetence in using the damned thing ;\) ). I will post the video later.

Best of luck to you Drac.

I dare you to throw in a couple of bars of Smoke on the Water at the end of your recital.
