It comes with a small salad, pffff, scrape that into the garbage. I will have to plan a trip there and have an ambulance sitting outside, waiting. It's a joint in NY called The Red Cat. I heard they were working on something, but I never dared dream! lol I have only ever had the privilege of eating a Twinkie once, and am yet to understand why it hasn’t made it across the pond. But a vat fried one...that takes a little effort to imagine. I live in Scotland, home of the highest heart attack rates in Europe, and I can assure you that we have a few deep fried miracles of our own. King of these is the Haggis supper. Yep, a whole haggis, deep fried and served with chips. Washed down with the nation favourite beverage (after whiskey) Iron Bru. It’s a day glow orange “fruit” drink that strips the enamel from your teeth faster than eating sand. And for desert, why not try deep fried Mars bar, salt and vinegar optional. I've seen fried pig ear and I've seen fried ice cream. I've seen a fried Snickers bar. If you're really lucky, you can get a deep fried corn on the cob from Walmart before they're all gone. There's fried okra and fried squash and they even made a movie about Fried Green Tomatoes. While part of me wants to know how in the hell you found those images, the other part laments the fact that I will never taste such a treat. The first image was, well to be honest bit of an eye opener. The second image left me...awe struck, to say the least. Sweet zombie Jesus! That’s a corn on the cob wrapped in meat! I have no level of articulation that can quite purvey the emotions I’m experiencing. Needless to say, that this inspired delight will never reach Britain due to our Nazi’ish food regs. I for one lament the fact that I will die never knowing the “Corn sausage”. I am reminded of something that I did a few years back. I was working as a cook in this restaraunt and had just finished making a batch of beer batter for the fish chips. Now, I don't know exactly what came over me, boredom, stupidity or both but I proceeded to batter my hand and stick it in the deep fryer. The batter was thick enough that I didn't burn my hand aside from a little spatter burn on my wrist and when I pulled my hand out it was a nice golden brown. The owner of the place walks into the kitchen as I am eating the batter off my hand and just shakes her head as if to say "you have too much time on your hands". I cook, but I tend to steer away from deep fried things. Who knew Satanists had such good taste in food? I'm also from the South and I began drooling over a few of these recipes. My parents and I are going to grow another garden this Spring. Looks like I now have a few new ideas! Fried Green Tomatoes are bliss! It may sound odd, but fried eggplant is VERY good, especially with horseradish sauce. Same goes for fried pickles and fried mushrooms! Has anyone tried fried candy bars? At first it sounded disgusting but I watched a show on Travel channel about it...it didn't look too bad. I usually try to stay away from fried food, it being unhealthy and all.
