So at first I was like "geez, another lame angels vs. demons schtick", but after watching the trailer, it got me hooked. (Plus it has Juno Reactor in the background.)
It gave me serious Gnostic vibes, in that the basic premise is that God (the Demiurge) loses faith in his creation and sends hordes of demonic angels (archons) to kill off humanity. The only hope for mankind is the birth of the new messiah (Christ, Emanation of Sophia).
I'll be sure to give it a look-see in the moving-picture-theater.

Thanks, I looked at the trailer, it's pretty cool.
A few things though, to think about.
If god wants humans dead, wouldn't satan want them alive? It mentions the child will save them, but who is the father of it? She sure as hell isn't a virgin. I think Michael tried to kill satan/dragon last time, but maybe he switched sides since he is going against god's will now?
Would be interesting if the savior of mankind turned out to be satan's offspring, and his protector is a rogue angel who tried to kill his dad.
A violent, willing, end of world, rosemary baby kinda thing.
Hollywood must have been stoned when they signed off on it.

Finally got to see this movie and I was....less than impressed with it, shall we say. It was like a zombie movie, combined with Terminator 2 with an Apocalyptic garnish. While that all sounds great on paper, it left me with a "meh".
I thought about going to see it, but I keep reading reviews along the lines of yours. From what I've read, all the really good scenes are in the trailer, so that watching the trailer is almost sufficient for getting all the juice.
I think it tried to accomplish too much, and in the end made for a very typical movie. The special effects were pretty good, Dennis Quaid has his moments, and I liked the throwdown between Michael and Gabriel, but that was about it.
It's concepts like that, a fight between Michael and Gabriel, that tempt me to go see the thing. You know, in a way it's odd that Michael was chosen for that role. Lucifer would seem a more logical choice.
