Hmmm it seems I have made the problem worse. I reset IE and tried to re-download/install flash player and now when it says "Authentication" the chat window closes. Damnit - why oh why did I have to kill my other computer lol
Yep - this and all of the above! Both IE and Firefox crash on my PC after the "authentication" message for Chat and then if I restart the whole cycle just happens again. I know it's not my computer.

I use IE and it works just dandy for me. Plus I run a shitload of other stuff in the background. Is there a Java update you are missing? Cleaned out the cache and other junk lately? Was your computer running an update or scan at the time. I was in there last night, and I had like 7 windows opened.

I tried redownload java and flash player several times and it doesnt do anything. Clearing cookies doesn't help and using a different browser is equally useless.

I doubt it. Thing is regularly scanned and has never come up with anything. Before I bought it from my mom she only used it for gaming. If any computer were going to have viruses on it, it would have been my old one but chat worked fine on that one.

Regularly scanned and comes up with nothing? That's actually a bad sign, when it comes to malware/addware/spyware. You are scanning for these and not just viruses right?
Viruses are actually way less common. Any amount of time online will cause your browsers to pick up malicious tracking cookies at the very least.
If you haven't already, get Lavasoft ad-aware and run it
Well, I did the Lavasoft thing. The scan took two hours but it wasn't much help. Oh well, I guess I should just admit defeat. Maybe the problem will somehow fix itself if I ignore it.

That's the post I was referring to. I mean, the post to which I was referring.

It must be a firewall or setting issue. I can play poker, chat, watch porn, and listen to music all at the same time. I swear that scrambles your head. Not bragging, just saying I think something on your end needs to be updated or a setting changed.
