I somewhat agree with you Will. It's almost a little disappointing, how secular Christmas has become (and I certainly agree with you about the censorship), but only in that it makes it more difficult to mock and have fun at the expense of Christians. Ah well, there's always Easter. *sigh*

I'm not particularly big on the music, as I tend to like the funny Xmas songs by Weird Al and The Chipmunks.

William;

I don’t know where you could be working, because just about anywhere that I have gone in the past few weeks, there have been Christmas music playing on the speaker system.
This includes Danny’s restaurant last night.
Although it might be possible that since I don’t participate in the shopping season, and avoid the malls as much as possible (Except during the last few days of the season because I enjoy watching frantic people shop) I might have not had the chance to note the lack of Christmas music in those places.

I work at CVS (second job, too many hours but that’s another discussion). They play Christmas music, just not the “Christian” kind. I don’t know…all Christmas music gets old after a while, but anything beats the Whitney Houston/Celine Dion crap that dominates the store’s play list. (I love Alvin and the Chipmunks! I’d have to put the Chipmunks, Marilyn Manson and Tony Bennett as my all-time faves – how’s that for variety?)

I understand that organized religions and their bastard children theocracies are responsible for much of the censorship in the world and that it’s ironic that I would not want their messages censored, but I refuse to stoop to their level. I like what I like, and I refuse to limit myself to what others think I should enjoy. That’s as Satanic as poisoned apple pie.

Having passed my cut off date for shopping in the malls, or anyplace else I might be involuntarily subjected to the kind of music that makes me want to rip people's heads off (and it's not the religiosity... it's the awful fucking music), I don't care what store owners choose to program in their stores as long as THEY CHOOSE IT.

If you decide that you don't wish to play Christmas music in your store, you have the right not to. It's not censorship, even if you refuse to play Christmas music. It's a choice. If the people respond to that choice by either not shopping in that store or by shopping in that store BECAUSE they get respite from the droning of the same agendized music over and over again, they too have made a simple choice.

A simple "Satanic" thought is that "if everyone else is doing something, it's an indicator that maybe I SHOULDN'T." Refusing to follow the crowd by not playing the music isn't censoring anything. It's providing choice.

And just when you think you've heard it all ... you have to hand it to these lost souls for an ingenious way to make an honest buck in these "end times".

And this is just one of these services; Google "rapture pet care" and you'll get 111,000 hits.

Is this a great country or what?

Such a deal!!! And there's all of the potential for continuing profits through the adopting out fees for all of those llamas and camels and the occasional pet spider monkey.

If I was a Christian, I would be so relieved that for just $110.00, I could be sure that my pets would be well cared for when the Rapture ca.....

I see that they have a set up in Oregon. I think I might try and get involved in this. Free money for saying I will take care of someone's pet after an event that will never happen, happens? Sign me up!

If they ever set up shop in Virginia, I am so putting in an application. Hell, if the rapture comes, I will travel cross-country (all the abandoned gas stations in the midwest should come in handy for that trip) and pick up your animal.

I honestly want to see that business's economic statement and see how much they're pulling in. Just think of all the other "rapture proof your <blank>" businessess you can think of. Need help taking care of your mentally retarded relative after the rapture, because his handicap doesn't allow him to comprehend Jesus? Or what about your flower garden?

Maybe you want to make sure your guitar collection is safe after the rapture, because if I'm not mistaken, some sects believe that heaven will come down to earth. You don't want to be screwed out of playing your favorite Les Paul when you come back down from heaven, so I'll keep it safe for you until your return!

For an extra $10, do they send your pet to you gift-Rapt?

How does one register this sort of scam? Does it qualify as a faith-based non-profit, or a “legitimate” unincorporated business? If these entrepreneurs have the audacity to, they should affiliate with a church here in the U.S. (*The scam originated in Britain.) It would probably net them some government subsidies here.

For laughs, here is a response to the “rescue service”, which I retrieved from the Atheist Camel website:
"To whom it may concern, In Florida the animals will also be raptured with us, so no need for your services!" --- (I hid the person’s I.D. here...mostly out of pity. I know, I know, un-Satanic.)… 12/7/09 in an email to Eternal Earth-Bound Pets. "Evidently Florida has it's own Biblical doctrine that all other states and bibles lack. Who knew??”

I propose a new Satanic Statement, 9-b) "The Christian Church is the best friend Satan has ever had, because it has kept us entertained all these years."

I’m all for you Blas’tivity scene Nem, good old fashioned ridicule is the order of the day when it comes to household decorations for this ‘festive’ season.

I stumbled upon this contemporary nativity scene, and it just made me laugh. So in the spirit of sharing, here you are, one and all.

Oh, buy the way, in the United Kingdom; we call vermin like this “chav's”.

I propose a "post-nativity" scene for Florida...Baby Jesus and the gang being devoured by all those freshly raptured ALLIGATORS.

Well, department stores have been getting more secular-minded over the past decade, but I really couldn't care. Would you prefer your consumerist orgy of commercialism with or without the illusion of sanctity? It's still as shameless whether or not you choose to say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas".

As far as the Nativity blood-orgy goes, you totally need to post some pics when you're done....

Personally I like christmas. I decorate, I participate and I wait for my gifts all while sugar plum thoughts of "For Me?" and "For Me?" go through my head. lol

I find the holiday relaxing. Its time off from work for me and a SAG holiday, so nice. Its very pretty to see the lights and the trees and I love looking at Macy's window displays.

But the thing that I love the most is billions of people celebrating a holiday that doesn't belong to them. One the was stolen and a pregnant virgin was attached too. Its the one time of year I get to make everyone feel guilty if they don't buy me something!

What the hell is not to love about this holiday?!?!

Cheers! And buy me something damn it!

Not sure if I'm going to have the time or resources to do the anti-Nativity scene this year. I managed to get the Virgin Mary into a bondage outfit made out of electrical tape (and it looks awesome!), but seeing as how I haven't been able to find a suitable "baby Jesus" (I combed the toy aisles--no little baby boy dolls that were small enough!), or a decent manger (amazing how secular the stores are nowadays), I think it's something that will have to wait until next year.

At least I got a new evil tree and lights. Black tree + red LED lights = awesome. I even made a Santa hat for my fake raven to put on my altar.

Victoria, I know what you mean about the presents! I end up buying myself more gifts this time of year, since I have the mentality of "one for me, one for you" when I go shopping. Plus, some of the deals that the stores are offering can't be found at any other time of the year.
