I painted this in my garage about a week ago. I plan to do another video like this, except on a larger piece of cardboard. I hope the video quality is tolerable.

I could've easily posted this in the image gallery, but I thought that here would be a better place to post this.

If I did that wrong, then alternatively here is the link.

Y'know, that was some interesting stuff to watch there. Seeing each bit of the piece develop gradually was fantastic.

I really should do this with my own work. I just need to get hold of a decent video camera to do so...

I thought that was very impressive, I particularly liked the contrast of colours, which was helped by the outlining.

I was especially impressed with how self assured you were, you were working at a reasonable pace, yet I didn't notice a single mistake. What type of paint did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I really appreciate them.

The painting was done in about three hours. I don't mind being asked about my medium. I used tempera paint on cardboard.

I don't know what you meant by saying I'm self assured, but thank you.

I would enjoy seeing a painting time lapse from you DistroyA. Oh, and I only didn't add music because I want to enable revenue sharing on the video in time. I realize nobody made a comment regarding the sound, I just felt the need to say it.

By self assured I meant that you just got down to it, you didn't seem worried about mistakes, and I didn't see you make any mistakes either. That is a compliment by the way, they're one of my weak points.

That was pretty awesome. I've always enjoyed watching other people working their art.

For your music, you could (if you wanted to) use open source (or whatever its called) music. Get some old recordings of classical music, for example. Flight of the Bumblbee seems oddly appropriate, but probably due to the "speed" nature of the video.

Sorry to be a smarty pants, but no-longer-copyrighted or never-copyrighted music is called 'public domain' music.

I'm thinking of William Tell Overture because it reminds me of the sped-up sex scene in A Clockwork Orange :P .

Public domain, that's the one!

William Tell would work there, too. Maybe a version of Hungarian Rhapsody #2? Oooh, the possibilities...

The painting was awesome, and watching it come to life like this is a pleasure... kudos!

If an artist releases a piece of work, copywritten or not, the author has a FOURTHEEN year right to their music. If they want to EXTEND their copyright they need to re-publish it again in a "greatest hits" album always seems to work.

There are pieces of music that you might find in the public domain but be careful just because the music isn’t copyrighted the performance just might be.

Reread the YouTube policy on use of audio swap. I thought I read that use of audio swap automatically denies any potential for profit sharing.

Yes Ta2zz, you are correct about audio swap, that is exactly why I have no music in the video.

I may be making another of these videos soon, and when/if I do, I'll probably convince my brother and his band to allow use of one of their piece's. If that doesn't work, then public domain it is!

I truly appreciate all the feedback, it's all been very helpful.

I never told you that I love your art. I'm looking forward to watching any more videos you care to post.

By the way zippadydooda, what camera did you use to create this? I'm having a hard time finding a camera that has a time lapse feature, as the descriptions of the cameras don't mention anything about time lapse.

To Pete: Thank you, I'll probably be doing another video like this before February.

To DistroyA: Actually, I used my web cam, it's built into my laptop. The "time lapse feature" isn't something I would expect to see on the box for a camera, lol. For making the footage into a time lapse, I just loaded the 2 hours of video into Windows Movie Maker. I then added the effect "speed up x2" 5 times I think. The max number of effects you can add is 6, but each time you add the speed up effect... I'll just leave it at x32 was quite enough.

Yeah, I realised after I searched the net for a few hours that it'd be best to get a DV camera or something and do it through my Mac directly.

I know of only one camera that has a time lapse feature, and it's way past my price range. Looks like I'm better off with a JVC DV camcorder.

Pretty badass; I'm impressed at your painting ability. How long did it take you?

edit: stupid me; two hours, didn't read the whole thread.
