We filled a big, 20 gallon drum designed for distilling with corn syrup and yeast. it took several days for the mash to be ready. I liked watching the bubbles churn through the loop in the special cap. We then set up the copper tubing, slow boiling the mash. The fumes condensed, and slowly drop by drop we got our first batch of booze. It is important to make sure the copper tubing is free of copper dust particles. Copper is rather toxic. It gave my friend a rash. Also, double or even triple distilling makes for more bang for the buck. the taste is very pleasant, kind of fruity. This process is rather ritualistic in nature, magical even. It definitely has a kick to it.

Wine: most of the time spanish red wines. My uncle kind of spoiled me in that regard; he let me have a few glasses of some scotch that he had imported from Ireland at $450 a bottle. Everything else taste like crap now. Sounds like you have a good story to tell, haha. I stopped drinking Vodka for similar reasons. Mostly I like the ones that are a little harder to find then the typical Bud, Miller, and corona (although corona is good).
