Huckabee completely avoided the actual issue of intolerance. How, in such a progressive city, is it possible that someone would be so close minded as to vandalize a billboard put up by an Atheist group? Or maybe it was just some moron who had no religious or political agenda and thought "hey, they didn't quote the pledge of allegiance correctly, I'd better climb up there and fix it."

A closed mind is a tidy mind.
Chuckle, clearly you've never been to the South. I'm tempted to say an Atheist in Charlotte is analogous to Daniel in the lion's den, but I don't think this crowd would understand the reference
Amusingly, the whole pledge was the idea of Frank Bellamy, a Christian Socialist (and it did not include "under God" - that was added in 1954). Ask yourself why you would pledge to a flag and a nation itself, rather than the principles under which that nation was founded.

Autodidact, I actually live in GA. But the town I live in (and have lived in most all of my life) is about as far left as you can go... we have the bible beaters on street corners trying to recruit drunkards on friday nights same as any town (arguing with these people about thing not even pertaining to religion is a hobby of mine), but we seldom have Huckabee level idiots. Unless of course you count paul broun... but that's another issue entirely.
as ogden nash so wonderfully put it "I think that I shall never see, a billboard as lovely as a tree. Indeed, unless the billboards fall, I may never see a tree at all" I've got this sneaking suspicion like billboards account for loads of fatal accidents every year. Whether religious or due to porn stores, I do not know, but at least with the porn store ones the last thing you see is a 60ft half naked chick.
