On beer - put a dash of salt in. I recently learned that from two Texan friends. Makes it so much better.

I'll have to remember that one, especially when drinking at not-so-tasty Beer.

When I lived in OK for about a year, the locals also stuck either a lime or lemon in it like it was iced tea.

I cook a lot of food in the culinary industry but I don't drink. I use my favorite alcohols for flavoring my signature dishes. Cabernet Sauvignon for red sauces. Captain Morgan Rum for rum cake. At the bar in the Tip Top Night Club in Monte Carlo like any other bar you will find me drinking a ginger ale with a slice of lime.

Used to never drink beer at all, then a buddy of mine got me drinking Dundee Honey Brown. A while of that and I started branching off to bigger and better things.

Current favorite is Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. Any good, thick, oily stout makes my night a little better.

As far as other drinks go, I'll take mead over wine any day, and any mixed drink that doesn't have an overly boozy taste to it (If I wanted to taste vodka, I'd do a shot of straight vodka, not sip at it with a slight flavor undertone).

Liquor-wise, can't go wrong with something like Barenjager. Or, if you can afford it at the moment, a slow indulgence of Chartreuse.

In my mind nothing beats Arrogant Bastard Ale by the Stone Brewing Company. Second to that would be Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks, followed closely by Jack and Coke. If I really want to embrace the inner "dude" I will opt for a white Russian.

It's good! I'm usually much more for the darker, maltier tastes, but I liked the uniqueness it had to it. Haven't tried anything by Stone that I didn't care for.

I like all kinds of alcohol.

I'm into Bushmills, Jameson and Evan Williams. I once drank a whole bottle of Evan Williams with a bottle of Carlsberg beer. I didn't have a pleasant experience. Do not try it! I challenged myself to see what would happened. Thankfully, I survived! Evan Williams is probably my favorite alcoholic beverage of all-time. Jack Daniels is a knock-off of Evan Williams, by the way.

I like Manischewitz wine too. For some strange reason, I love the sweet taste of it. I've had white wine and red wine. You need to drink wine in moderation. One glass of wine every night is said to be healthy for you. I'm not a wine connoisseur though. I do wanna try more wines in time.

As for beer, I enjoy Peroni. It is Italian beer. It tastes delicious and I love it. Menabrea (another Italian beer) is truly my favorite beer of all-time. Imported beer is good. OH and be careful of American beers. They have hidden ingredients like GMO corn syrup! No wonder why American beers are addictive.

When I returned from Europe last time I was really into beer, particularly German and Italian beer. While in Berlin I drank some Warsteiner and was really impressed by it.

I was tempted to order Warsteiner after I returned to Australia, but thought I might ruin the magic so I didn’t. Drinking that beer was all wrapped up with being in Germany and being with the people I was with there, so I didn’t want to weaken the memory.

I am starting to enjoy whiskeys again. I like to drink one double whiskey per night and a couple on the weekend.

At the moment I am drinking some good Kentucky bourbons like ‘Russell’s Reserve’ 10 Years old, which is just a beautiful smooth bourbon, ‘Woodford Reserve’ which is the finest tasting bourbon whiskey I have had and also ‘Makers Mark’ which is a good nicely priced bourbon.

I am enjoying some good single malt scotch whiskeys as well. I am drinking ‘Talisker’ 10 years old, ‘The Singleton’ 12 years old, ‘Oban’ 14 years old and ‘Bowmore’ 12 years old. All of these are beautiful whiskeys and a real treat, an indulgence.

I have been looking at some rather outrageously priced whiskeys, such as ‘Johnny Walker Blue’ or double decade or older ‘Glenfiddich’ or ‘Chivas Regal’ but that seems a bit excessive, price-wise, to me.

I have also been interested in getting a good bottle of grandfather port and sharing it with my partner’s brother who likes port.

1.) Gin
2.) Everclear
3.) Vodka

There's a trend here, and it's burning pain combined with quick drunk. xD Fun though. :P

I've been getting into single malt Scotch. I bought a bottle of 16 year old Glenlivet, and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. I shared it with a friend of mine, and he started drinking it as well. We've so far tried three types of Islay single malts (known for their use of peat in the distillation process). We've tried Laphroaig 10 year, Lagavulin 16, and most recently Caol Ila 12. The winner so far is Lagavulin.

Rémy Martin VSOP - I don't mess around too much with the hard stuff, 1) it leaves me cringing the next morning as to what I may have said or done, and 2) I'll be honest I simply can't drink straight shots of most things. My stomach basically kicks it out like a vigilant goalie "what the hell is this?" “not in my house! :|” – it’s pretty embarrassing, actually, but whatever. Remy, however – it is smooth! I have no problems drinking that straight when I do decide to indulge. I think we can all concur too that high quality liquor has a certain “spirit” to it – light hearted, warm, and just over-all good vibes. Top shelf is top shelf for a reason.

Harpoon IPA – people do complain of its heaviness and I do not disagree – it IS heavy; a real gut buster, but having acquired a taste for it (though I have backed off drinking substantially) it is my 6 pack of choice for a long-weekend.

Natty Daddy – they’re like a dollar for a 24oz. As strong as a Red-Horse, and my beer of choice on those random days I’m thinking “I’m in the mood for just a beer”.

I rarely drink to the point of intoxication anymore, which is why Scotch (and other "sipping" liquors) is perfect for me. Never really had a problem holding my liquor, but I just don't really drink to get drunk anymore.

Update: I just bought a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced "Oo-ga-dal"), another Islay Scotch, and it's everything it claims to be. Absolutely incredible, and one I'll be going back to consistently. It's expensive (over $70/bottle; not the most expensive I've seen, however) but well worth it.

Uigeadail

Indeed, I think drinking to the point of intoxication pretty much loses its appeal after a certain age. Beyond that it becomes more of an indulgence, and when indulging – it may as well be top-notch.

Economically, it’s about the same – at 19 drinking a 12 pack of Meister Brau a day to get shit-faced VS at 33 splurging on an expensive bottle to drink and reminisce and engage in conversation. The cost is the same while the end result is superior.

I think alcohol is one of those rare things that you really do get what you pay for. Quantity vs quality. Once the “thrill” of blacking out and being reckless invariably wears off with age, there’s a certain “subtlety” to sharing a well mixed drink with a few friends from time to time that is far superior to meeting up every other night to do beer funnels and act a fool.
You already know the phrase – “indulgence not compulsion”

we’re not saying anything new ;\)

When I'm out, I always get Porn Star cocktails or shots.

+Sour Puss
+Blue Curacao
+Add Sprite/7-Up/clear pop of your choice to make it a cocktail

When I'm at home, I just buy the cheapest vodka available and mix some juice into it.
