If I don't see it, it's because I don't fully like the idea of re-inventing somebody like Myers. Or any villain for that matter.
Agreed. Totally.
Is it true that Courtney Gains is in the movie??

I went to go see it with my boyfriend...he thought it wasn't as good as the older ones.He complained that they didn't even dress to the right era.I personally thought it was o.k. The only thing that I thought was interesting was the begining when they showed why he started killing and the part where he tried to show a picture of his sister holding him or something like that and she didn't know who he was.The only thing that scared me was when he popped out of now where all of a sudden....That's it.

This is a much different take on this series. This is what I believe it needed. I loved the Fact they got Malcom Macdowl as Dr. Lumus. Tyler Mane makes for a much more frightening Micheal Myers. All more meat to the story

I thought it was awful. It wasn't even remotely scary--just full of gore, blood, and extreme violence--and I only recall one actually suspenseful moment towards the end. My first and probably last Rob Zombie flick if this is an accurate representation of his movies.
I'm not one to drone on about movies like some wannabe film critic, but the storyline seemed very flat, one-dimensional and typical: little kid experiences crappy home life, tortures animals, goes nutty, kills lots of people. I'm left asking: "...and?"
I'm not dissing it for its superficial entertainment value that violence and gore provide, but is there really anything of higher value here? Anything discussion worthy or not typical that I might have missed when cringing behind my knees?

I haven’t seen the movie yet, although I probably will rent it when it comes out on video out of mere curiosity. And yes, it has been advertised here in Canada as a Rob Zombie film. I like Rob Zombie as a person, but not as a director. I’m sure many of you will disagree with me on that, so I’ll at least tell you why.
I think the initial appeal of his work in film applies to horror movie lovers simply because of the extreme content. It’s also an interesting transition to watch a rock star who has always put a darker twist on things make the transition to being a director. However, the two films he made previously when viewed from a broader perspective were a great disappointment to me.
Did anyone notice the immense similarities between “House of 1000 Corpses” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”? To me it seemed like a rip off of the latter, which I really saw as a lack of originality. That, and for a period of time they were actually talking about banning the movie in Canada because of the extreme graphic content. Compared to other movies, I just don’t see where they were coming from on that. When I heard to movie title “House of 1000 Corpses” what automatically came to mind was the scene in “Jeepers Creepers” where the guy fell down the metal pipe by the church, turned on his flashlight and saw that the walls were plastered from top to bottom with a collage of more corpses than he could count. For a movie with such a title, it did seem to be lacking in the corpse count.
I also likened “The Devil’s Rejects” to a rip-off of “Natural Born Killers”. I’m sure if you really think about it, you’ll see the similarities. After watching both movies, I got the impression that Rob Zombie was more interested in reinventing other people’s work than he was with coming up with anything original of his own. So the first time I saw the commercial for “Halloween” I literally fell out of my chair laughing. Can you possibly come up with a better unoriginal rip-off than that? Three in a row, nonetheless!
