With all the intense debate going on at the moment in the forum I though it would be nice for people if they could discuss something a little less important and a little more lighthearted.

So, who here plays video games. PC games or consoles. I've been an avid gamer for years now and I would love to discuss favourite games and systems.

I've been too busy (Kids tend to do that)to keep up with what's out right now even though I definitely want to check out that "Halo 3" for the X360. What game systems are we talking here? I've got the 360, the Wii, and the PS2. I just wish that I had more time...

As far as going back a bit, my all time favorite was "Goldeneye" for the Nintendo64. To me, it pioneered the way shoot-'em-up games should be made.

As afar as RPG's, I loved "Shenmue" for the Sega Dreamcast. I tended to get lost when I played that.

I saw your photo and I must say that I'm disappointed that I don't feel like I'm talking to Spike anymore...:)

I personally am addicted to the gambling games on line. I am bit of an addictive person and I try to stay out of the casinos, In new Mexico there is around 50 or so different casinos owned by varies tribes. Each with incentives and bonuses to intice the people in spending vast amounts of thier savings. I love it, the greed that comes with winning. I win some small amount and think that sooner or later I'll hit it big. I love to play Texas hold 'em. But like most people I barely get the bills paid. So because of my addictive attitude I try stay out of those places cause I'd be living on the streets if I gave in to the whole thing. So I paly on line for fun, with no money involved. It's fun that way. That's my game of choice. But I also find myself playing the playstaion alot, I am into the war genre of gamming, espeacialy that Clany franchise.

I loved Goldeneye for the N64, it was a classic, one of the better FPS games of its time.

The Dreamcast was one of my fave consoles, I've always been a SEGA fan, but saying that I never did play Shenmue which is a pity as I've head good things about it. When it comes to RPG's I've always been a fan of the Final Fantasy games, and I'm quite fond of the Pokemon games actually, if you want something as a bit of a time waster, they're suprisingly tactical.

As for the photo's, well I'm sorry about that, although if it helps I'm now clean shaven and have short hair so I'm more like Spike now, although not that similar.

Golden eye kicked ass, but I perfer From Russia With love. Its better. And for the Final Fantasy games, I was really pissed wen I had to import some of them from Japan cause the company didn't release some of the title series in the USA.

"Goldeneye" was so versatile. You could go in stealth or you could just blow everything up. It did set the gold standard for the first person shooter game. Should I get "Rainbow Six" or Halo 3" first? I've got a family to feed, I can't get both!

TC - If you still have the Sega Dreamcast laying around, I highly suggest looking into buying a used "Shenmue". You're bound to find it somewhere. It's a timeless classic that can still hold its own considering today's standards.

I also love sports games. The last great baseball game was "MVP Baseball 2005" and then they stopped the MVP series after that.

I do still have a Dreamcast so I'll look it up and see what I can get. If I can get hold of it I will do but here in Bangor we have a population of 40,000 and we have the nerve to call this a city, it's not like New York, where Manhatten alone has more than 30 times the population of this "city". Even recent PS2 and Xbox games are hard to come by.

As for the 360. I would suggest Rainbow 6, simply because Halo 3 from what I've heard is simply more of the same. I haven't heard anything good about Rainbow 6 from friends but websites and mags are giving it between 8 and 9 out of 10... which should mean either it's decent or the company who makes the game payed of the mag, which if probably more likely.

the game is great, but you are right they are flogging the game tc but still a damn fun game. i would suggest rainbow 6 and its sequel before halo 3 as rainbow 6 uses the gears of war cover system and that game pretty much set the standard form that point on. i hear even grand theft auto 4 is using the same cover system ,another great game i forgot to mention before was mass effect a great game.take kotor combine it with a third person shooter but still using the gears cover system ability to blind fire ,the ability to choose what path you take kind of like fable and kotor and how the game plays out a beautiful world to explore all in all a great game http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/mass...ag=tabs;reviews

Personally, I fell in love when I played Fnal Fantasy 7 as a kid. Ever since then I've been collecting FF games for all consoles and I think I actually have all of the canadian/USA released versions. I even have the two movies. I bought a whole bunch of Final Fantasy games at once all together on Ebay. gotta love Ebay. Lol. Hrmmm. Other games I liked... I can't really think of any other specific ones.. Oh except Dragon Quest/Warriors. I really loved playing those and have played a lot of them. Lol I remember playing this game runescape on computer when I was younger in like 2002 or so. Lmao the number of ways you can waste time when your young.

Yeah i loved that game when i was younger too. FF7 has to be the best RPG ever in my opinion, along with Chrono Trigger.
I just find it hard to play games nowadays, i spend all of my time on the PC doing nothing. But lately i have been trying to get into horror games like Silent Hill.

I find it hard to get scared by anything media-wise nowadays too, so ive thought about smoking pot in the middle of the night and playing horror games when its dark and im all alone. Perhaps that could bring back that feeling you used to get when you were young and watched horror movies.

this is the most epic and in depth rts i have ever played
1000 of troops on the battle field, using moral and fear to defeat your enemy just fucking epic. and the best part is it is from 2002 so any pc should be able to play it. as far as war strategy this is the top of the food chain in my opinion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iniE8QJ714c near the end of the movie they show an actual battle.

what you are seeing is not a cutscene, that is what actual game play of the battles looks like. the campaign map is turn based think civilization 4 for the same style but this intro youtube video shows all that:)

and here is a community made mod for Rome total war their are many great mods but this one is just fantastic, made by a bunch of die hard lort geeks but the mod is just epic.

may i present lord of the rings total war.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5SX7PQg11g all thought to play this mod you need (Alexander total war) an expansion to be able to play it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfCS2cHNsdI&feature=related just found this video shows all the factions for lord of the rings total war and it shows the sheer volume and crazyness of a battle (i advise turning off the volume thought for this video some really bad music on it)

right now i'm pretty into mmog's
lvl 22 on Gunz
golden axe on Gunbound
and i'm a lvl 25 mage on maplestory

does anyone remember the legend of dragoon rpg for playstation?
that was in my opinion one of the best rpg's to date.

Oh hey LoD was an amazing game. I own it and have played it several times over. Great story line but nowadays, I find it weaker than current games so I haven't played it in awhile. But still, a great game. Oh we forgot a series; Zelda. Gotta love the mind boggling Zelda series. Oh what fun as a kid. xD What do you guys think of it?

I love video games. I'm an avid Doom fan for one. Others I'm particular passionate about are the Sonic series (mainly the 2-D games), the Metroid series, Outrun 2006, Street Fighter 2 onwards, King of Fighters XI, the Quake series, Duke Nukem 3-D and others I forget for the time being.

I'm looking into getting into the Zelda series. Just to see what the fuss is about though.
