I'm still new to most things satanic. I've read what there is to read and understand a great deal of the philosophies that enter into it.
My question, however, is are there any meetings similar to that of other forms of organized religions. If so, how do I find them because I'd like to meet people first hand and better understand it that way.

I'm in Philadelphia now and will return to connecticut shortly, locations in either of those places, or people in either of those places, would be nice.

I am not sure, but my guess is that you would have a hard time finding a functional local off-line group.

As far as I know all the local groups have been short lived. I think the problem is that satanists are so few in numbers that is is hard to bring together a functional local group. If you try to form a local group you will often get too few members, or you will have a group composed of too different people who have to little in common. Another problem is that it is hard to keep together a group unless the group have very concrete activities. Most satanist do not have a need for weekly rituals etc., and groups that have actual real life projects one could work on are fare between. As far as I know, some of the most long lived groups have been formed around metal bands and other secondary activities.

Our local offline group has been going strong for around 10 years now. In fact, we were just discussing our next meeting and trying to determine what we would do and where it would be held. You paint a rather broad picture of satanists Amina. Keep in mind, there were strong groups meeting and corresponding long before this damned internet came along. And they still continue to this day, and may have become stronger thanks to this damned internet.

James, we have a feature on this site. It is called World Map. It shows you locations of registered users. Try looking there for others in your area. Send them a PM to see if they are interested in meeting or forming a group. Perhaps they know of a group and would be willing to share that info with you. There are a lot of forums out there to form groups. Try meetup.com or craiglist. Myspace and Facebook also. Our poker group used a site to gain members and get the word out on the next basement game. I don't remember which site it was. There are a lot of Satanism sites out there. Browse them. Google them.

Fakepropht, we have also had a off-line group for more then ten years publishing a magazine, organizing summercamps and halloweens etc., but in the same time I have seen lots of groups disappear. Some groups function, but they are very few and most disappear within a year. Maybe he can find other local satanists, but unless at least one of them has good people skills and know how to organize, the group will be dead before the 3. meeting.

In philly, there are a few Satanist I know of. Very nice people, none of them are on this site. They kinda keep lo-key. They kinda mix in with the vamp/goth scene in philly. If you go to some of the goth shops, there are fliers for parties, and you will find satanists at the parties cause its just a small area.
In connecticut, well, as fakey said check the map.

Good luck,
M

Yeah, that is basically what I am looking for as well, I mean I live in Indiana and I cannot find anyone related to Satanism. I mean I can barely find the Bible anywhere.

I live in in Missouri and have not yet found anyone that lives under the title of a Satanist besides myself. Although I have come across many "white-lighters" that after talking about their beliefs and everyday practices it would seem that they are "living the life" of a Satanist just have accepted the title. There used to be a supply shop in downtown Kansas City that sold ritual supplies and had an extensive library but as of the first of the year they refuse to carry any products or books meant for the "left handed path." I would also like to find a group of fellow Satanist to party with. Not so much interested in a church or ritual setting but just some people that share my beliefs or at least understand where I am coming from when I say or do certain things.

Damn, it must be depressing living in America. In the city I live I know so many satanists that I've lost count. And it's not a thing that needs much hiding either, so spotting one isn't very hard. Not much percecution here. Finland is a christian country but nut an over conservative at that, the zealots are such a great minority that they don't have any voice over anything. They are merely scorned by their christian brothers too...

I have had contact with more then a hundred danish satanist and I guess I have personally met with around 30. I am not sure, but I have a feeling that we have a higher % of satanists in Europe. With the size of my country (you can drive from one end to the other in around five hours) and the small number of citizens I guess we can be compared to a very, very small county or a city in the US?

Nyc and the 5 boros are at 17 million people.

http://www.citymayors.com/statistics/largest-cities-density-125.html

One of my old friends lives near you "Fatone", I can ask him to forward me any info. Hes not a satanist, but is involved with stuff.

In general about fiinding people, check the map here. Check out other subculture stores, go to shows, parties, etc in your area. Join myspace or some other networking site.
Some satanist have some involvment in other more "common" subcultures. Like, vamps, goths, & metal. In nyc, we have a bunch of latin vamps who are satanist.
People aren't going to come out and tell you what they are into but you do learn things over time.

Good luck...

I myself am a member of the Modern Church of Satan, but am the only registered and active member in my area (Snellville, a suburb of Atlanta), but that is because it is an EXTREMELY reactionary area with deep roots of Christian fundamentalism, a Republican stronghold, and even active, open White supremacy.

As far as Atlanta (where I live during the school year), I only know one other Satanist, but he is a Theistic Satanist and finds my belief in LaVey kinda silly (although we are both members of the United Order of Cerberus). There obviously some teenagers who dabble in it, but they are about as serious about it as they are about Wicca (chuckles). So, if there are any ATL'ers in tha house... speak up!

The Modern Church of Satan? Heh. It reminds me of a party game we did at one of our summer camps. We made a "satanic popquiz" with different kinds of pop questions related to satanic groups, LaVey, popular culture, conspiracy theories abut Satanism etc. The quiz had two teems who where asked to pick random prices of papers from a bowl to form the teem name. The names where made up by tree random words with the first one being from a category with words like "New", "reformed", "ancient", "secret" etc. The other word was from a category with words like "church", "temple", "society" etc. and the last category was names of devils. The teems also had to pick a captain and he also had a random title assigned, and for the rest of the weekend the captains where called by there titles like "impissimus of the ancient society of Baphometh" or what ever they where called. I don't remember what the teems where called, but I think it was a nice way to use a bit of self irony in relation to the satanic community. It was a nice game, and we have joked about making more questions and turning it into a blasphemous board game (the blasphemy being aimed at trends in the satanic community).

I found two other "interessting" organizations with church structure:

at first the Temple of the Vampire ( http://www.vampiretemple.com - foundet by CoS-Magister Nemo in 1989) and second, the Church of Lucifer ( http://www.luciferian.org . In 2007, i found my own church, called Church of the Abyss with the help of the Universal Life Church ;\)

Heh, lufiverian.org gave good chuckles.
In order to join, it's required to tell them your three favorite books(among other things). Or: "If you had three wishes, what would they be?"
Sounds like serious business...
Of course it's fine to ask questions that better describe the person, but their application form also works pretty well in telling something of themselves.

The Church of Satan asked the same questions in the application for active membership and the swiss satanic nazi order of the former CoS-Warlock and Priest of Mendes candidat Markus Wehrli (Satorius), the Black Order of Lucifer ( http://www.blackorderoflucifer.com ) use the same questions. Ok, this questions a an good instrument to see how deep the potential member is involved in the satanic philosophy.

Oh, and Back to the Black Order of Lucifer:
Satorius philosophy come from the german Nazi-philosopher Karl Maria Willigut, an SS-member under the pseudonym Weissthor and a friend of Heinrich Himmler. Willigut was in a psychiatric clinique, too. And before i become a member of dragon rouge, i would like to become a member of the BOoL and Satorius betryed me with 250€, ca. 220 to 230 US$. At this time, i opened my eyes and understand that satorius is the biggest liar in the new age history and a wannabe satanic priest. In 2006 satorius proclaimed on the homepage of his black order, that he killed Anton LaVey with a curse because Anton LaVey cursed him before. This page was deleted in 2007. But this is not the thematic in this thread ;\)

Sounds like some of the usual questions in main stream personality tests. The most worrying fact is, that you could be asked the same kinds of questions in connection with applying for a job!

In the org. I belong to we only ask one question: "Why do you want to join?", and if people answer the question in a sane way, they get the possibility to get in involved in relevant projects after signing a form stating that they know and understand the organisations FAQ on Satanism and the organizations rules (including what kinds of action the org. view as grounds of termination of membership). Even with the best questionnaire it is impossible to weed out all the bad seeds, and the really loony ones come up with strange answers even to the most simple questions (yes, we DO reject a lot of strange applications). I would think that most Orgs. who ask a lot of questions (like the CoS's aplication for active membership) don't really know what to do with the answers exept to weed out the ones who are obvious insane, criminal, non-satanists or just to strange to fit in to any kinds of orgs.

As far as I know no satanic orgs. really needs to know much about its members, as longs as most members are more or less inactive and mind there own business. If I should ask any additional questions it would be something like this: Do you have any kind of useful skills or other assets that could be helpful to the organization? To my experience skilled dishwashers are more usable then skilled magicians if you want to organize social events, and people with technical writing skills are often more useful then writers of lofty poetry if you want to communicate.

Yeah, but you norwegians are crazy, blowing up old churches filled with vikinga-artifacs and items. Blow up the modern churches insted of the old historic onces.

Crazy satanic norwegians like varg vikernes. ;\)

I'm glad to see there are people in Atlanta! It's amazing how many people show themselves when someone speaks up. I would love to find a Satanic community,or at least a few people, in Atlanta. If anyone is interested, definately let me know! I'm also in the Charlotte,NC area quite a bit as well. Now I know of a few Georgians...anyone from NC?

There is a world map page.
You can click on a state or view what other members of this board live nearby.

Maybe you should look over site more.

Where i live in Australia everyone is different and i think some are like me, but it turns out that they just listen to heavy metal and dress like a satanist, then im left in an awkward state. All i want is a few people who have the same beliefs as me that i can talk to face to face about, but i now have t600club which is a better ipion i guess because there is so much stuff and history on here!
